It’s safe to say, we’re black seed oil enthusiasts over here. This simple, yet very complex supplement has changed our lives! So, what is Black Seed Oil? Well, you’re in luck because, in this blog post, we are diving into the supplement, its benefits, and how YOU can begin implementing it. Who’s ready to start nourishing themselves from the inside out?
So…What Is Black Seed Oil?
Black seed oil comes from the Nigella Sativa plant which produces the seed and then that seed is pressed and the oil is extracted—Voila, black seed oil. Why is it called “Black Seed Oil” and not “Nigella Sativa Oil?” Well, it is named after the seed that the Nigella Sativa plant produces which is black and sometimes referred to as “black cumin.” Once the seed is pressed you will notice the oil is a naturally olive-yellow color. So, if you ever get black seed oil that isn’t that color, you know something is wrong!
Nigella Sativa is native to Europe, northern Africa, and Southwest Asia, but is also grown in the Mediterranean, which is why we import our seeds. But don’t worry, we press them ourselves in our West Texas shop to ensure you are getting the freshest and purest product – because as you know, we believe fresh is best!
Black Seed Oil Benefits
We could go on and on about the benefits of black seed oil, but we will keep it somewhat short for everyone’s sake!
Black seed oil is an antioxidant that helps remove free radicals (unstable molecules in the body that can damage DNA in cells, which can increase the risk of disease) which can cause vision loss, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and heart disease just to name a few.
It also has anti-inflammatory properties that aid in reducing blood pressure issues, boost cognitive function, and help with obesity problems and Arthritis. Most anti-inflammatory issues are caused by pathogens which are organisms or agents that can cause disease in the body!
If you are someone who suffers from gut health issues, black seed oil can aid in digestion, ease IBS, and decrease gas and bloating.
More outward visible benefits include helping your Eczema, Psoriasis, and other skin issues.
Black seed oil also is an antimicrobial, helps with pain relief, and your pets can even benefit from its use!
If you need more proof of its benefits, this is from one of our loyal customers who began using black seed oil after she was diagnosed with Cancer,
“I began [using black seed oil] when I was dealing with Cancer and refused deep treatments. I began taking it and it gave me more energy! I also seemed to recover sooner from other things hitting my immune system…and I have used it ever since!” – L.C.
Uses of Black Seed Oil
There are various uses for black seed oil, and we encourage you to find what works best for you! It is an extremely flexible product, so you are able to ingest it, use it topically, or even make your own capsules – which is a really simple process; you can purchase capsule kits online and then fill them with our black seed oil! Ingesting it? Try mixing with some tart cherry juice, lemon, or Apple Cider Vinegar. If you’re really strong or don’t mind the taste, shoot it straight! Topically you can use it pretty much anywhere! On cuts or abrasions, in your hair as a hair mask, as a makeup remover, and for various skin conditions mentioned above.
Incorporating It Into Your Daily Routine
If you are a new black seed oil user, start small! The recommended daily dosage of black seed oil typically varies from person to person with the most common range being 1 teaspoon to 2 tablespoons a day. Like we said, start small, which would be 1 teaspoon a day. From there, you can work your way up to higher dosages the more comfortable you become with the supplement. If you are using it topically, you can use it as religiously as wanted/needed.
Because the oil gets rid of yeast overgrowth and other toxins, too much too fast can cause flu-like symptoms – aches, diarrhea, etc – be aware that those symptoms can happen! Drinking plenty of fluids can help flush out toxins. Should these symptoms occur, reduce the amount to ½ teaspoon or stop and start over after a few days with a smaller amount. We do always recommend you consult with your doctor prior to use and certainly, if the symptoms don’t ease up.
As far as how soon you will see results, that is going to vary from person to person. Some people will notice results right away but for others, it may be a few weeks. Many factors contribute to the speed of results, such as your levels of inflammation and diet. We do encourage a healthy lifestyle to all, including movement, hydration, and healthy, fresh foods.
